The Book Nook

The Round Rock Library has many exciting features, including our second-hand bookshop—The Book Nook.

For many years, The Book Nook has raised money for library programs and supplemental library resources. Operation and upkeep of this bookshop are handled by the Friends of the Round Rock Public Library.

Our Book Nook volunteers are enthusiastic about our new expanded areas. A Friends’ Office with space for receiving, sorting, and storing book donations is located on the first level of the new library. Two Book Nook locations can be found on the first floor—along the south wall as well as the business center. Price lists are displayed throughout the areas; prices range from 25¢ to $2. Payment for purchases may be made by placing money in one of the cash boxes or online via PayPal.

Our inventory of books for sale is derived from:

  • Library books that have been removed from the library.
  • On-the-spot contributions made to the donation bin located by the Friends’ Office.
  • Larger donations which can be scheduled by contacting [email protected].

We accept donated hardcover and paperback books for adults and children in good condition—clean and free of mold, stains, water damage, and writing. We also accept music CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Rays. We do not accept or sell vinyl records, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, technical books, or manuals. Currently, we are featuring a blockbuster deal on CD audiobooks at 25 cents each!

Our team of Book Nook volunteers includes a steering committee and core group of regular volunteers who accept and sort donations and replenish the shelves daily.

We are currently seeking a Saturday volunteer and a Sunday volunteer. To be considered, you must be a member of the Friends of the Round Rock Public Library organization, attend a training session, and complete a background check. Please get in touch with us at [email protected] if you are interested.
